Tiffany Snow bagged a hat-trick as a dominant USA team thumped Mexico at the National Sports Centre last night.
Snow started and finished the scoring in a game that was so completely one-sided that Mexico failed to muster a single serious attempt on goal all evening.
It took the US just four minutes to get their first goal, with Snow calmly flicking home following a cleverly-worked short corner. And given their superiority the only surprise was that it took another 20 minutes for them to get a second.
Mexico though are a tough side to break down, and gave the US a physical contest, if not a skilful one.
That they stayed as close as they did owed as much to goalkeeper Mirna Garcia, as it did to their determination to block everything, legally or otherwise.
Their frustrations soon boiled over however and Jesus Castillo was sin-binned for a cynical foul just outside the circle, moments after Lauren Powley's well-taken goal had put her side two up.
The second half was one-way traffic, with the US seemingly able to score at will.
Rachel Dawson powered in a shot from a short corner, and minutes later created Snow's second and America's fourth.
All that was left was for Snow to round off proceedings by completing her hat-trick, diving to force a cross from Caroline Nichols past the out-stretched hand of replacement goalkeeper Sandra Contreras.
USA now have a break for three days and will have to wait for today's clash between Canada and Trinidad and Tobago to see who they'll face on Saturday.
