Dear Sir,

I am writing in response to Adrian Robson's Friday Forum written October 1, 2010.

I was completely appalled at that article and felt The Royal Gazetteshould put him on a plane or boat and send him out of Bermuda. He tried to annihilate Mr. Richard Calderon for something he (Adrian) knows nothing about and that is football and Calderon's administrative skills in particular.

If there was anything 'SHAMEFULLY WRONG', it was your article, Mr. Robson.

Richard Calderon is a first class administrator and a real professional. Actually he should be called "hero". Prior to getting the post as Chairman of Football, he set about putting together a strategic plan that included the office and playing field. He did this out of his pocket by bringing in overseas personnel, who had meetings with local football minds (coaches, players and administrators).

After gaining office he immediately implemented the plan in the office run by David Sabir and on the football field under Technical Director Derek Broadley. He put together several sub committees, one being the Player Development Committee (of which I am a member) with the purpose of working directly with Technical Director Derek Broadley.

The Player Development Committee was where Broadley could direct any of his concerns pertaining to football. There would be no need for him to communicate with the President (Richard Calderon) as the committee was the liaison between the two.

During Calderon's two years as chairman, (which unfortunately had to be cut short because of conflict between profession and football) he implemented many things and his track record speaks very well for itself. All his accomplishments, which come from his strategic plan, could be seen on the BFA website www.bermudafa.com , but you did not have the decency to check it out.

With regards to the contracts, the Players Development Committee informed Mr. Derek Broadley that his contract was not being renewed. We looked at a plan from Jacques Crevosier and West Ham United that were very similar and felt that their plan would be the best course of action for Bermuda's football. A plan that all the affiliate clubs and Bermuda in general would be happy with. This plan allows all our local coaches to develop a Bermuda based football programme without a technical director living in Bermuda but overseen by a football consultant, saving the association money as their budget has been cut.

This recommendation along with the renewal of Mr. Boyles' contract was proposed to the executive committee and approved. Jacque Crevosier's contract was given after getting feedback from coaches; this too was approved by the executive committee.

I don't feel that the discussion that took place about the contracts at the BFA's AGM was necessary because no contract was physically on hand so they could have delayed their point until one was present.

In closing, I would like to emphasize that NO discussion should take place with the new committee regarding Derek Broadley's contract., He must go. I reiterate that you Adrian Robson should be put on a plane or boat and sent out of Bermuda. There was no need for you to try and annihilate one of our most outstanding people on or off the football field.

Mr. Richard Calderon, a hero for what he has done for football.
