Town looking to learn from mistakes
Dandy Town don't have much time to analyse their sub-par performance against Somerset Eagles on Sunday with their Dudley Eve semi-final showdown against Devonshire Cougars taking place tonight at Somerset Cricket Club.
Town and Eagles drew 3-3 as Hornets put in a display that had their fans scratching their heads at what team they were actually watching.
Complacency would best describe the outing for the league champions and another showing like that could see them booted out of the Dudley Eve tonight.
Defender Jared Peniston, however, believes that all the team needs to do to get back to their best is learn from their mistakes.
"For us to make an impact in the semi-final, we just need to learn from our mistakes and move forward," said Peniston. "We all need to raise our game, and as a senior player in the team I need to step up my game as well.
"All Town need to do is put our chances away and don't get complacent.
"That's what happened to us in the second half (of the Eagles match), we were complacent."
In Cougars, Peniston acknowledged the threat they possess in derailing his side's quest to make the Dudley Eve final next week.
And with the Big Cats not hitting on all cylinders, it may be the perfect time for Hornets to get back on track.
While admitting that the league is the club's main concern, Peniston is adamant that the side want to win the competition.
"Every cup game is important to us, and we take one game at a time.
"Our goal this season is to defend the league first and other cups are bonuses.
"The key to this game is like other games that are played. Whoever wants it the most will be successful."
In tonight's second match, champions North Village put their title on the line against rivals PHC in a game that should bring out the best of both clubs.
With coaches Shaun Goater and Kyle Lightbourne at the helm, neither side will shy away from this match.
Rams defender Kofi Dill believes the game will throw up an interesting spectacle given the styles of both teams.
"It is important as far as winning every game, we are the defending champions and whatever game is next we want to win," said Dill.
"It is always a good game between ourselves and PHC. We play two different styles and look to win games no matter what the score is, so it will be a really interesting match."
The games begin at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
