Trinidad name training squad for Bermuda trip
Trinidad under-23s have named several players who went to the Fifa under-20 World Cup in their training squad ahead of this month's trip to Bermuda.
Regulars incuding national under-20 captain Leston Paul, Andre Marchan, Trent Lougheed, Robert Primus and goalkeepers Glenroy Samuel, Jesse Fullerton are in the 33-man squad, which starts training today.
Among the new call-ups are Ma Pau SC's Trevin Caesar, former national under-15 captain Jerrel Britto, Ryan Frederick and defender Stephen Campbell.
Last week Trinidad under-23s appointed Serbian, Zoran Vranes, as their new coach.
Vranes, who previously coached the Trinidad senior national team, led Trinidad to the under-20 World Cup in Egypt in September where they earned their first ever point in Fifa competition, after a draw against Paraguay.
His under-20 assistants, Anton Corneal and Hutson (Barber) Charles, both former Trinidad internationals, are expected to make up his backroom team.
The Soca Warriors take on Scott Morton's Bermuda under-23s on Monday December 28 and on New Year's Day for the inaugural BFA International Cup. They also face Devonshire Cougars on Wednesday December 30. The venues for the incoming tour have yet to be announced.
Bermuda general secretary, David Sabir, said: "As part of its strategic plan, the BFA is committed to rebuilding the competitiveness of Bermuda football and we will continue to expose our teams to top quality competition.
"This three-match series will provide a barometer of the level of our football in comparison to our counterparts within the Caribbean region."
