Victory for Bermuda's Evans
Bermuda middle distance runner Aaron Evans claimed victory in the 800 metres at the annual Mt. Sac Relays in California at the weekend.
Evans, who is due to represent the Island at this year's Commonwealth Games, beat off 83 challengers to win the race in a time of 1 minute 49 seconds 4.
Long jumper Tyrone Smith also competed at the Mt.Sac Relays and placed third with a leap of 7.87m.
Other local athletes in action at the weekend included Carifta Games bronze medal winner, Jasmine Brunson, who helped Clemson University to the ACC Conference Championships, coming fifth in the long jump (5.95m).
Latroya Darrell came second in the triple jump with a personal best of 12.85m) at the Georgia Bulldog Limited.
And Tristan Joynes recorded a personal best in the 110m hurdles (14.72) at a high school meet.
Bermuda Track and Field Association (BTFA) president, Donna Watson, said it was a "great weekend" for Bermuda athletes.
