Wade-Fray heading for NCAA showdown
Jenaya Wade-Fray and her team-mates will go up against Oklahoma State University (OSU) in the first round of the NCAA Women's basketball tournament this Saturday.
And all eyes will be focused on the Bermudian star, one of the most influential players on the team.
The draw was made on Monday night.
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) Lady Mocs received the number 13 seed and will take on fourth-seeded Oklahoma State Cowgirls (23-10) in the Sacramento Region.
The squad got together to watch the NCAA Tournament Selection Show on ESPN at Big River Grille in downtown Chattanooga and now head to Tempe, Arizona for the first round match-up against OSU.
Game time is set for 9.11 p.m. Bermuda time this Saturday and will be shown on ESPN2.
This will be the first contest between UTC and OSU, with OSU receiving an at-large bid out of the Big 12 Conference.
Chattanooga posted a 24-8 record in 2009-10, including a 16-4 mark in Southern Conference action and won an unprecedented 11th consecutive Southern Conference regular season title this year.
The Lady Mocs went 1-3 in the regular season against teams that qualified for the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
They defeated Austin Peay but fell to East Tennessee State, Georgia and Kentucky.
Saturday's game will mark the Lady Mocs' 10th trip to the NCAA Tournament and the eighth under head coach Wes Moore.
Chattanooga earned the Southern Conference's automatic bid when they defeated Samford 72-67 in the finals on March 8.
Chattanooga have been seeded 13th in the tournament once before, in 2002. The Lady Mocs best seeding was No. 10 in 2004.
Lady Mocs defeated seventh seeded Rutgers in the first round at the McKenzie Arena for their only NCAA win in school history.
The university have been seeded 12th five times since 2001.
