We can defend our title, says Hornets' Peniston

Dandy Town will look to continue their revival tomorrow night when they tackle PHC in one of the two Dudley Eve semi-finals at Somerset Cricket Club.

The defending Dudley Eve champions have had a rough time of things in recent matches, losing five on the trot in all competitions before Sunday's much-needed 3-1 win over Somerset Trojans.

But utility-man Jared Peniston is confident Hornets have finally turned the corner and has backed his team to overcome the challenge of Zebras.

"Our mindset heading into Wednesday's match is easy, we just need to be focus and keep the game simple," said Peniston.

"Being defending champions, I don't believe there is added pressure."

After Sunday's victory, substitute Lynn Tucker said the team's never say die attitude was the key to their victory.

"As a team we have been fighting hard, but the goals have seemed hard to come by," said Tucker. "Today we had a few chances to put it away but the important thing is staying together and we will be alright.

"Everyone is working as a unit and we will begin to pick up our level right now. It was a great result at home in the position we are in."

Peniston reaffirmed the thoughts of Tucker and the faith the players have in each other.

The Bermuda international has enjoyed a decent start to the season and reckons it is due to the ability of his team-mates to bring the best out of each other.

"I look at Dandy Town as a team that doesn't give up," continued Peniston.

"The difference between our win on Sunday and the previous games that we lost was that there were a few good adjustments made in the team and everything work out as planned.

"My form at the moment is attributed to the passion I have for the game and I have good players around me.

"If you have quality players in a team they tend to bring the best out of you."

Hornets take on PHC at 9 p.m., Devonshire Cougars play North Village at 7 pm.
