Nahki Wells snatched a hat-trick as league leaders Dandy Town made it three wins on the trot after beating Somerset Eagles at St. John's Field.

Town, who have the most potent attack in the league, have now scored 14 goals in their last three league matches and remain two points clear of the chasing pack.

Wells, along with Lashun Dill who also chipped in with a solo strike, ran Eagles ragged in a 20 minutes spell in the second half to make the three points safe.

Teenage midfielder Troy Tucker got two late goals for the visitors to make the score-line respectable.

It was the pair of Wells and Dill that linked up to great effect in the second minute of the game, with the lanky winger outpacing the Eagles left-hand side and cutting a ball back for Wells who slid in to make contact and put Town ahead.

Wells should have had a hat-trick in the opening 15 minutes but could not find the scoring touch that saw him open his goal account, missing two excellent chances to bury their opponents before the game cam to life.

It wasn't until the 67th minute that the match really began to heat up, when livewire Dill beat Eagles net minder Marcel Dill at his near post with a low drive after beating his marker with some trickery.

Five minutes later it was Wells who notched his second, this time with his head.

The striker then rounded off his scoring with a neat chip over Dill who was stuck in no man's land in the 88th minute.

Wells could have had a fourth when he missed from three yards with the goal at his mercy.

Eagles scored two goals late in the contest courtesy of Tucker who had to work for everything he got.

Rakeem Deshields outmuscled his marker and cut the ball back for an onrushing Tucker to slot home.

His second came from the penalty spot after Tamauri Tucker was bundled over by Tokia Russell, although he did put extra theatrics into the offence.

Afterwards Hornets skipper for the match, Jared Peniston, applauded both hat-trick hero and Lashun Dill for their influential performances on the pitch.

"It was a good game, we made it hard but got the three points," said ex-Bermuda international Peniston.

"This was the best performance I have ever seen from Lashun, and Nahki did his job today well.

"He could have had a few more but that's what we ask of him and today he delivered."
