Windies Test bat Smith to play against Bermuda
Out-of-favour Test batsman Devon Smith has been included in a West Indies High Performance squad which will take on Bermuda next month.
The 28-year-old left-hander, who recently captained West Indies 'A', will be part of the side which will play four 50-over and two Twenty20 matches in the Tri-Nations Canada Summer Festival involving David Moore's team and Canada.
Smith has played 31 Tests and 32 one-day internationals and will add some experience to an otherwise youthful squad, which has been under the guidance of director Toby Radford at the High Performance Centre, based at the UWI Cave Hill Campus.
Hard-hitting batsman, Smith, struck 62 runs off 88 balls on his Test debut against Australia in 2003 at the Bourda Ground in Guyana. However, the Grenadian has since been in and out of the West Indies first team.
His last appearance was against India last September in a one-day international in Johannesburg, South Africa.
All of the Tri-Nations matches will be played at the Malton Sports and Cricket Club in Mississauga, Ontario.
Also included in the Windies squad are Test fast bowler Brandon Bess and ODI internationals Kieran Powell and Devon Thomas.
