Devonshire Colts claimed a valuable point in their race for their survival with a draw against PHC at Southampton Oval.

Colts went up just before the break courtesy of a powerful drive from Carlos Trott before Zebras skipper Chris Furbert curled a free-kick home to share the points.

Colts, who have taken four points off of PHC this term, are now five points clear of the relegation zone.

"It was a good game and a point well earned," said Colts coach Keishon Smith. "We could have stolen it, but that is how it goes in these games."

Cecoy Robinson, Quinton Burgess, and Jason Smith all had half chances that went begging for Zebras and the match looked to be heading into the break all even until Trott stuck just before half-time.

Jevon Sealey was the guilty party in the build up to the goal as he was dispossessed in his own half by Mikre Pace who put Trott through.

Allowing the ball to run across his body, Trott calmly planted his effort into Raymon Glasford's back post to put his side up from 12 yards.

With the lead, Colts never really looked like they would allow their hosts back into the match until referee Anthony Mouchette blew for a needless free-kick a few yards outside the Colts area.

Furbert made no mistake with his effort, curling the shot sublimely into the top right hand corner to level matters.

With time running out, PHC bought on two youngsters, Khamisi Lightbourne and Marco Warren, in hopes of grabbing the lead.

Lightbourne had a chance to make a name for himself but put his effort wide while Warren, who was easily the shortest person on the pitch, showed glimpses of what future holds for the side as he played neat touches to those around him.

PHC now four points back of leaders Dandy Town.

Colts coach Smith added: "We created enough chances to win the game but as the game goes on if you don't take your chances you always leave the other team room to get back in.

"Survival is our main goal this year and we will look to continue with our hard work and determination next week."
