Dear Sir,I am writing this letter with great interest in regards to the selection of this year's Somerset Cup Match. The retirement of Janeiro Tucker and others who won't be playing due to disciplinary matters will no doubt leave a big gap to be filled, but none bigger than that left behind by Tucker. For the selectors, it is important that they stick to the task of selecting a side that will compete and win back the Cup for the club, although this won't be an easy task.I hope the players will be selected on their form and not because of their name or favouritism. This sort of bias needs to stop players not being picked because of the team they play for or because selectors don't like a player. It's outdated. This has been going on for years and Willow Cuts are a prime example of a team that has great players but won't be given a chance for whatever reasons. If a player has good character, is a good team player and is disciplined, then there is no way he shouldn't be an option in a team that hasn't had the Cup since 2004.One must not forget a selection committee must be headed by a strong and honest leader.Personalities have been our downfall for years when it comes to selecting a team that can actually win the game for us, like a sore that can't heal. For once, we need to put our heads together as one and select a well balanced team that the selectors believe can truly take the Cup back from St George's.Please don't allow yourselves to be persuaded by he or she who thinks they are above you when it comes to selecting the side. The very best wishes to all those selected to play when the final decision is made on who will represent Somerset Cricket Club.GEORGE BREMAR
