Robinson and Pitcher join training squad
Jacobi Robinson and Justin Pitcher are the newest additions to Bermuda’s training squad currently preparing for next year’s Americas Division 1 Twenty20 and ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Division 3 Tournaments. Both players were excluded from an initial training squad of 43 players announced by Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) last September but have since been invited to join the senior national programme. The pair are widely regarded among the Island’s top players and their presence could potentially enhance Bermuda’s hopes for success at March’s Americas Division 1 Twenty20 Tournament in Florida and April’s WCL Division 3 Tournament to be held on local soil. Both players were invited to join the squad by former Bermuda captain Arnold Manders — who will serve as interim coach when David Moore’s contract expires next March — and approved by the BCB’s selection committee. Also invited to join the squad was Willow Cuts batsman Chris Douglas who has yet to turn up for training. It’s understood that St David’s spinner Delyone Borden is another player whose services are being sought. The senior national squad, who are due to take part in a training camp in Barbados next month, are currently training three times weekly at Bermuda High School for Girls and Berkeley Institute in preparation for the upcoming international commitments both here and overseas.
