De Ste Croix breaks loose to win in a canter

Neil de Ste Croix won the second race of the Flying Colours Fat Tire Massive Race series on Sunday at Casemates in Dockyard.

Competing on a 1.81-mile course that had racers riding through the buildings of the former prison, the veteran rider won the Male ‘A’ division in 56 minutes, 20.05 seconds.

Grant Goudge (56:47.58) grabbed second place and Brian Steinhoff (50:44:51) rounded out the top three, although he did one lap less than the first two.

Andrew Hern (45:09.74) won the Male ‘B’ class ahead of Matthew Oliveira (45:15.49) and Chris Roque (45:22.09).

Timothy Miller (32:40.1) claimed line honours in the Male Novice division, while Hugh McPhee (33:25.3) and Billy Phillips (33:40.5) rounded out the top three.

In the Female ‘B’ section, Gabriella Arnold (43:50.82) took the top prize having completed five laps, one more than second-placed Ashley Kirkpatrick (43:49.73).

The Female Novice honours went to Laurie Orchard (32:25.0). Deanna Didyk (33:35.8) and Joanne Medeiros (37:23.0) rounded out the top three.

Dylan Hill (34:16.9) won the Male 13-15 age group, while Tristan Narraway (37:59.7) rode to victory in the female equivalent.

First place in the boys’ 12-and-under category went to Eusebio King-Mills in 19:07.6 and Kayla Raymond won the girls’ race in 19:23.8.
