The field for next month’s Best-of-Three Series finals was completed during last weekend’s harness racing at the Bermuda Equestrian Centre.

With the finalists in the three-year-old and four-year-old divisions already confirmed, all eyes were focused on which ponies would join them in the January 10 finals from the Aged category.

When the dust had settled at the Vesey Street racetrack, GV Crystal Ball, IC’s Shakedown, Brona’s Mike and Abby’s Dream all punched their tickets to the final while Casmir Comotion was eliminated.

The Best-of-Three Series includes six heats with the top four horses in the Three and Four-Year-Old and Aged Divisions in the points standings advancing to a seventh and eighth championship race. Only the top four horses in each division are awarded points.

Meanwhile, Lucas Bridges continued his fine form of late after claiming three victories on the day with two different ponies.

Also securing multiple victories were Cameron Harris, Philip Correia, Kirista Rabain, Tyler Lopes and Ryan Burrows respectively.

Lopes and top female driver Andrea Westerfield posted the day’s fastest times.

Lopes ran a 1:04/3 with Arnold Manders’s gelding Cherokee’s Ironman competing in the Free for All, while Westerfield equalled the time with Eddie Roque’s stallion, GV Crystal Ball.

Three ponies moved up a time bar.

Simsfield Stable’s two-year-old mare, Double Time, got both legs out of the 1:09/3 — 1:10/3 division, while rookie driver Demian Tucker steered Brona’s Girl out of the same division.

Advancing from the 1:07/2 — 1:09/2 division was J & A Peniston’s four-year-old mare, JustWatch Me, with Rabain at the helm.

Harness racing continued on Saturday with the Boxing Day Stakes Races. Post time is 1pm.
