Successful showing: the Bermuda Under-21 team went undefeated at the USA Netball U21 International Development Series in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They beat the United States and Canada twice at the competition in July

Bermuda netball players and coaches Chaquita Simmons, Anthony Mouchette, Coriah Simmons and Selah Tuzo have successfully completed an umpire and coaching seminar in Barbados.

The Americas Federation of Netball Association Regional Netball Umpire and Coaches Seminar was sanctioned by the International Netball Federation. It consisted of theoretical and practical segments.

Simmons and Tuzo are members of the under-16 Bermuda squad and have been pegged as future leaders.

“These are exciting times for netball and we would like to thank all participants for being such great ambassadors for Bermuda and the sport of Netball,” Kimale Evans, the BNA president, said.

Evans also praised the Bermuda Under-21 team for their impressive showing at the USA Netball U21 International Development Series in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, last month.

“Bermuda went undefeated having been the only Bermuda netball team to successfully defeat the US and Canada twice,” she said. “This tournament is the pinnacle of netball competitions for emerging players under 21 years of age.

“Their undefeated record proves that hard work, dedication and a belief in the process is what it takes to be successful. This performance will increase the likelihood of qualifying from our region for the Netball World Youth Cup in 2021.”
