Bright Sparks secure title

Phoenix Sparks were crowned under-12 champions as the Digicel Bermuda Junior Netball League got under way with the Harold “Doc” Dowling tournament at Bernard Park at the weekend.

Competing in a field of four teams, Sparks topped the pile with nine points, three points ahead of NVCC Lady Rams Red with NVCC Rams White and Storm taking third and fourth respectively.

Phoenix Sparks remained unbeaten throughout the tournament after a convincing 8-0 victory over NVCC lady Rams White in their opening game with a hard-fought 3-1 success over Storm before finishing with a 9-3 rout of NVCC Lady Rams Red.

NVCC Lady Rams Red secured victories over Storm and NVCC Lady Rams White while their Rams counterparts overcame Storm. There were also six teams taking part in the Under-16 tournament, which will be completed this weekend. Of the games played so far, Storm Lightning and NVCC lady Rams Red lead the way.
