Corporate community handed challenge

Bermuda's corporate community has been issued a sporting challenge ahead of the MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda next month.

MS Amlin, a leading global reinsurer, will be represented by a number of teams and individuals racing in Bermuda's World Triathlon Series Age Group race on Saturday, April 27.

Companies or individuals that bring eight or more race participants to the event will receive a $500 credit, in cash or as a donation to a charity of their choice.

MS Amlin's Reinsurance Global managing director, James Few said: “We have active staff who enjoy sport and we're aware that other companies in Bermuda are equally sports-minded.

“Our three teams really enjoyed the experience last year, and some of them had never participated in a triathlon before. We would like to have more corporate teams to compete against, so we challenge others in Bermuda to test their strength and teamwork by registering in the MS Amlin World Triathlon.”

WTSBDA organisers have confirmed that there are prizes up for grabs, for the most participants and for the fastest team.

Pat Phillip-Fairn, the WTS committee chair, said: “The company with the most race participants, including individuals and relay teams will win ten tickets to the Clarien Bank WTS Sponsor Lounge. Additionally the fastest team will win a WTS Corporate Challenge Cup.

“Those companies who competed last year found it to be a fun fitness challenge that was also great team building with staff from overseas offices.

This year we've added the opportunity to give back to the community, where we'll donate $500 on a company's behalf to a charity of their choice, simply for inviting 8 or more overseas colleagues to Bermuda to race.”

MS Amlin invites companies with overseas offices to also bring in team members from other offices.

A full schedule of events and entertainment is planned from April 25 to April 28 for this year's World Triathlon Bermuda Festival.

The Amateur Age Group races begin at 7am with staggered starts throughout the morning. The elite men's race starts at 1pm and elite women's race at 4pm.

Flora Duffy will race on home soil to defend her title, after a record-breaking win last year. Bermuda will again be in the international spotlight with global television reach as the island will host the second of the International Triathlon Union World Series circuit.
