Workshops on long-term money management

Money Matters workshops: Bill Storie, CEO of the Olderhood

The Olderhood Group Ltd announced today that it is teaming up with Butterfield and the Bermuda Stock Exchange to provide a series of free Money Matters workshops to help Bermudian residents learn about long-term money management and investments.

The workshops are open to the public and focus on helping people learn how to use long-range budgeting techniques to manage money more efficiently, increase opportunities to save for the future, and to gain a better understanding of various investment vehicles available to them.

Michael Neff, managing director, Bermuda at Butterfield, explained the bank’s interest in helping island residents improve their financial literacy.

“As Bermuda’s largest community bank and wealth manger, Butterfield is focused on helping Bermudians gain an increased understanding of the importance of saving for the future and acquiring the necessary skills to make sound investment decisions,” Mr Neff said.

“This workshop will help people of all ages establish financial goals and plan steps to achieve them.”

Greg Wojciechowski, chief executive officer of the BSX, said: “Understanding the principles of saving and investing is critical to making prudent investment decisions. This workshop is designed increase awareness of the importance of investor education and is perfect fit with the BSX’s ongoing investor education initiative.”

Bill Storie, CEO of the Olderhood Group, welcomed Butterfield’s sponsorship of the series.

“Increases in longevity mean that everyone needs to understand how to make their money last for a lifetime,” Mr Storie said. “The Money Matters workshops will increase financial awareness and ability to budget for your future life.”

The next Money Matters workshop will take place from 5:30pm to 7pm on October 24 at Butterfield’s Reid Street Banking Centre.
