Breaking News: Dame Jennifer appointed Education Minister

Premier Paula Cox unveiled several new Ministries in her first Cabinet appointments this morning - and brought back former Premier Dame Jennifer Smith.

Members of the new Cabinet were sworn in at a ceremony at Government House with Governor Sir Richard Gozney.

Premiership challenger Terry Lister was given the Transport portfolio and Dame Jennifer has been appointed as the new Education Minister, but there is no place for the former Education Minister El James.

This is the line up:

Paula Cox is Finance Minister and Premier.

Deputy Premier Derrick Burgess becomes Minister of Public Works.

Former Premier Dame Jennifer Smith is made the new Minister of Education.

Premiership challenger Terry Lister has been brought into the Cabinet as the new Minister for Transport.

Michael Scott is the Attorney General - he was Minister for Telecommunications under former Premier Ewart Brown - and former Attorney General Kim Wilson has been made Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Patrice Minors has been made Minister of Business Development and Tourism.

Former Minister without Portfolio Zane DeSilva has been made the new Health Minister.

Neletha Butterfield is the new Minister of Public Information Services. She has been moved from the Culture and Social Rehabilitation ministry.

Walter Roban has been moved from Health to become Minister for the Environment.

Glenn Blakeney becomes Minister for Youth Affairs and Families.

David Burch becomes Minister for National Security.

Michael Weeks becomes Minister without Portfolio.

Former Progressive Labour Party chairman David Burt has been named in the Senate, alongside Cromwell Shakir and LaVerne Furbert. Senate casualties are Paula Cox supporter Walton Brown, Thaao Dill and Marc Bean.
