Constituency #22 - Paget East - Senator Davida Morris

Senator Davida Morris

Davida is currently a Government Senator in Bermuda's Upper House and is the Chairperson of Progressive Minds, the youth wing of the Progressive Labour Party. Senator Morris is a graduate of the Bermuda College where she obtained an Associate Degree of Arts and St. Mary's University where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree of Arts in Psychology and Sociology.

A life-long resident of Paget, Davida attended Paget Primary School and later, the Berkeley Institute. Currently employed as a teacher at C.A.R.E. Computer Services and Turning Point as a substance abuse counselor, Davida also serves as Junior Minister for two ministries, Social Rehabilitation and Community and Cultural Affairs. She is also the Executive Secretary for the School for Afrikan Learning.

A charter member of the Bermuda College Literary Society and a supporter of the Hamilton Parish Hot Pepper Majorettes, Davida's passion and interest in our youth is clearly evident. She has worked for Residential Treatment Services as a Residential Care Officer for troubled teens while simultaneously working as a substitute teacher in the public education system. She then moved to the Women's Treatment Centre where she assisted recovering addicts in their transition to mainstream society.

As the PLP candidate for Paget East, Davida will work hard to ensure that the open spaces which define the parish continue to flourish. Acknowledging the importance that the environment and safe open spaces play not only in Paget East but the entire island, Davida will focus on ensuring that the railway trails are safe for all to enjoy.

Residing in Paget has given Davida additional insight into her neighbor's concerns. She endeavors to act as a tireless representative for them in Parliament. She will also liaise with Government Departments and Ministries to ensure that constituency concerns and problems are given a voice and are addressed.

As she has done in the Senate, Davida will act to represent the interests of the younger generation who often feel disconnected to the political process and their government. Knowing that education is the key for her generation's success, she notes that efforts must be made to address the lack of scholarships for graduate level studies and fields that may not necessarily encompass the international business arena.

Davida's unique perspective will add to Bermuda's Parliament and assist in the journey to continually move Bermuda forward.
