Pat is the product of a political family, and her political mentor is definitely her father, the late Dr. E. F. Gordon. Pat entered the political arena as deputy Chair for Pembroke East Central under her sister Olympia’s chairmanship. She ran as an Independent Candidate in the 1993 general election, to highlight the inequity of the foreign spouse policy, and stayed the course until the policy was changed.

Pat unsuccessfully contested the Pembroke East Constituency in 1998, but was appointed to the Senate by another sister, now Dame Pamela Gordon, who was the first female Premier of Bermuda and who had become the Leader of the Opposition following the 1998 election. Pat served in the Senate until April 1999 when she won a by-election in Paget West. She was re-elected in 2003. Pat currently serves as the Shadow Minister for Finance, having completed stints in the Shadow Ministries of Youth & Sport, Labour, Home Affairs & Public Safety, and Works & Engineering. She is known as a fierce debater and has stood toe-to-toe with the best of them.

Pat remains actively involved in the community and continues to serve on the Senior Usher Board of her church, St. Paul’s A.M.E. She and her husband Dennis are the proud parents to her two boys and his four children.

Did you know…

Pat is an avid tennis player, a sport she took up after playing competitive softball for some 30 years, and making the determination that her body should not be sliding around in the dirt any more. She has won several tennis tournaments, and at one time was ranked number 1 in Ladies’ B tennis.

A Plan for Paget West

* Final determination regarding siting of new Post Office.

* Pedestrian crosswalk near St. Paul’s bus stop, with pedestrian lights for safety.

* Traffic-calming measures on Ord Road.

* Concentration of Police presence to eliminate drug sales on Ord Road.
