David Dodwell was born in Bermuda, attended Saltus, and graduated from the Cornell University's well known Hotel School.

David is widely known for his dedication and years of involvement in Bermuda's hospitality industry. He works hard and enjoys what he is enormously successful at - owning/managing The Reefs in Bermuda and another small hotel in the West Indies. The Reefs has won and continues to win numerous awards from such prestigious magazines as Travel + Leisure and Conde Nast Traveler. It experiences occupancies amongst the highest on the Island, due in large part to a very dedicated and long serving staff - many of whom live in Southampton. David has invested and continues to invest in the tourism industry in Bermuda by upgrading and developing The Reefs which, in turn, provides employment opportunities for Bermudians. To coin a phrase "He puts his money where his mouth is."

David has a long history of community and public service. Over the years he has represented the Island's hotel industry, and served on the boards of Bermuda College, the West End Development Corporation, as well as a variety of Government boards including Immigration, Labour and of course Tourism. He is proud to work for his country and, in particular, the people of Southampton East Central.

David has served as an MP for the past 13 years in Southampton, where he resides. During this time David has been Minister of Tourism, Shadow Minister of Tourism, and Shadow Minister of Race Relations and Economic Opportunity.

David is a committed family man. He is happily married to Margarita, and is the proud father of five children.

Did you know...

David is a visionary and, in his quest for knowledge to sharpen his skills, he is a voracious reader! Whilst travelling, he is constantly looking at and studying ways to help Bermuda both as a tourism destination and as a place where we can all live as happily and as peacefully as possible.
