Bob Richards — –One Bermuda AllianceMr Richards was born and raised in Bermuda, and attended Purvis School, the Central School (now Victor Scott Primary School) and the Berkeley Institute.He went on to study in Canada, gaining a BA in economics from Waterloo Lutheran University and a bachelor of commerce and MBA from the University of Windsor.After working with two banks in Toronto, he returned to Bermuda where he joined the Bermuda National Bank.In 1978 Mr Richards joined the Bermuda Monetary Authority, where he worked as an economist and ultimately as general manager in charge of research and investment of Bermuda’s official foreign exchange reserves.In 1983, Mr Richards became investment manager for Shell Trust Bermuda, managing an international investment fund and developing a sophisticated computer tracking, analytical and order execution system.In 1987 he founded Bermuda Asset Management as the first independent investment company in Bermuda.In 1995 BAM became affiliated with INVESCO. He was appointed general manager of INVESCO Global Asset Management and a partner in Amvescap, the ultimate parent of INVESCO.In 1999 INVESCO left Bermuda and BAM reverted to being a family business.In 1997 Mr Richards was appointed to the Senate where he served as Government Leader, and also as Minister of Telecomunications.He has also served on many other public sector boards including the Bermuda Hospitals Board, the Bermuda Monetary Authority, the Public Funds Investment Committee, the Bermuda Association of Securities Dealers, and the Economic Council.He was reappointed to the Senate in 2004. In 2007, Mr Richards was elected a Member of Parliament and since then has served as Shadow Minister of Finance.He is current president of Bermuda Information Technology Services Ltd and a fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers.Mr Richards is married with two sons.Neville Tyrrell — –Progressive Labour PartyMr Tyrrell was also educated at the Central School, and then attended the Bermuda Technical Institute and the Cranfield School of Management in the UK.He began his career with Cable and Wireless as a trainee telegraph and coast station operator.After completing C&W’s management trainee programme, he held several management positions and left as the manager of human resources and administration in 1996.He has been employed with Colonial Pension Services as a pension consultant since 1998.He has served on a number of public boards including the Race Relations Council, Sports Development Council, Education Planning Team, Bermuda Council for Drug Free Sports and the Government Air Advisory Committee.He has also served on the CedarBridge Academy Board of Governors, and Government’s Golf Courses Board of Trustees, Sports Hosting Committee, and Broadcasting Commission.Mr Tyrrell served as chairman of the Taxi Authority Review Committee and is currently a member of Government’s Public Transportation Advisory Committee and Health Insurance Management Committee.He has served in various positions in the local, national and international footballing worlds. He is a past president of the Bermuda Football Association and was made an honorary life vice president this year.He has held the positions of treasurer, vice president and assistant coach at Centaurs United Football Club, where he had a playing career spanning ten years.At the international level he was a member of the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football Competitions Committee and Match Commissioner from 1996 to 2001.In addition, Mr Tyrrell is a member of Hamilton Rotary Club and Lodge Somers Isles.He was the secretary general of the Progressive Labour Party from 1998 and party chairman from November 2000 to March 2004. He was a Government Senator from March 2004 until October 2006. He is married with three children.His hobbies are travel, reading and golf.
