Attacks on campaign signs continue
A spate of tit-for-tat attacks on political campaign signs has continued, according to observers. The Royal Gazette reported yesterday how a sign for One Bermuda Alliance candidate Donte Hunt was swiped from a yard in Hamilton Parish overnight on Wednesday.Victim Paul Martin blamed “a coward who supports the PLP,” for the stunt when he took to Facebook to complain about it.Spokesmen for both parties strongly condemned the actions of whoever took the sign. However, more reports came in yesterday. One source, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “Two days ago, OBA signs were on a roundabout at Barker’s Hill. Yesterday they were strewn about and removed. This morning PLP signs appeared there with no sign of OBA signs. Who knows what will be there tomorrow. Independent signs?”One of our readers posted under our original story: “The OBA signs all round St George’s have been taken at night and replaced by PLP signs.”Another reader told us: “I thought you may be interested to know that this morning during rush hour at the roundabout near where Johnny Barnes stands on the way into Hamilton, PLP (members) rallying for the election took down all of the OBA signs on the actual roundabout and replaced them with PLP signs, leaving the OBA signs on the ground.”Asked if there had been any reports made to police, a spokesman replied: “At this time, the Bermuda Police Service has not received any reports regarding the alleged theft of political signage.”
