Immigration group agrees terms of reference

Committee chairman: William Madeiros

A team set up to review and propose amendments to the Bermuda Immigration Act 1956 has agreed on its terms of reference and will “shortly” announce the first stage of consultation.

The ten-person Consultative Immigration Reform Working Group will be reaching out to the community for submissions and with dates and locations of public meetings.

A statement issued by the group said it had been meeting regularly over the past three weeks and now had the terms of reference that would guide its consultation and deliberations.

“We are pleased with the work that we have completed thus far,” chairman William Madeiros said.

“We have a dedicated group of individuals that represent a diverse cross-section of the community and are looking forward to hearing from stakeholders and interested parties throughout this process.”
