House: disaster plans update

Wayne Caines, the Minister of National Security, updated the House of Assembly this morning on the island's disaster risk reduction and mitigation work.

These included dealing with a simulated fuel spill at the airport while planes were full of passengers and a cruise ship evacuation exercise at Dockyard.

The disaster risk management team also reviewed the island's ability to deal with fuel shortages.

Mr Caines said the team will upgrade emergency broadcasting next year, switching it from analogue to digital.
