Senior public officials switch roles

Senior officials in the Ministry of Health have changed roles as the Government tackles healthcare reform.

Jennifer Attride-Stirling, the permanent secretary, is the new chief strategy officer and takes responsibility for the overall direction and implementation of the healthcare reform initiative alongside minister Kim Wilson.

Shivon Washington, the comptroller for the ministry, becomes acting permanent secretary.

Derrick Binns, the head of the public service, announced a number of other reassignments which come into effect today. (NOV 1)

Marva O’Brien, the permanent secretary for the Ministry of Legal Affairs, is temporarily reassigned to support the Commission of Inquiry into land grabs. Ms O’Brien will also provide support to the Ageing Well Committee.

Jasmin Smith, the director of TCD, is temporarily reassigned as acting permanent secretary for legal affairs.

Terry Spencer will is the new acting director of TCD.

Dr Binns said of the moves: “They are designed to ensure that the identified critical initiatives are given the attention and focus needed for them to be successfully developed and executed.”
