Five Progressive Labour Party senators will swap the Upper Chamber for the House of Assembly after they won their seats in the General Election.Kathy Lynn Simmons, the Attorney-General, Vance Campbell, Anthony Richardson, Crystal Caesar and Ianthia Simmons-Wade will become MPs for the first time.They will be joined by party colleagues Jason Wade and Jache Adams, both political newcomers.Ms Simmons, who was the Senate leader in the last Parliament, took 431 votes in Sandys North to 185 for Marc Bean, the leader of the Free Democratic Movement, and 114 for Jeff Sousa, of the One Bermuda Alliance.Mr Campbell won in Smith’s West, a seat last held by the One Bermuda Alliance’s Trevor Moniz, who stepped down in August.He gained 432 votes to 403 for the OBA’s Vic Ball.Mr Richardson won Hamilton South by 422 votes to 326 for the OBA’s Robin Tucker and 89 for the Free Democratic Movement’s Cheryl Packwood.Ms Caesar won Southampton West Central by 441 votes and took the seat from the OBA’s Ben Smith, who picked up 388 votes.Mr Wade won Southampton East Central, taking the seat from Leah Scott, the OBA deputy leader.Mr Wade got 486 votes to 400 for Ms Scott.Mr Adams won Pembroke West by 368 votes to 307 for the OBA’s Marcus Jones and 39 for the FDM’s LeYoni Junos.Ms Simmons-Wade won Warwick North East by 419 to 405 for the OBA’s Jon Brunson.Jarion Richardson, an OBA senator in the last Parliament, retained Paget West for the party.He gained 447 votes to 282 for the PLP’s Arianna Hodgson.
