The Hamilton Princess has formally served notice of its aim to have a casino.

This week the hotel released a legal declaration of its plans, stating: “Notice is hereby given of the intention to apply for a licence under Section 114A of the Companies Act 1981 for Hamilton Princess Casino Limited.”

Earlier this year, the Bermuda Casino Gaming Commission confirmed that the hotel was in the third stage of the process – the due diligence stage.

The St Regis hotel is in the lead to land the island’s first permit for a casino.

The Premier, David Burt, pledged that a casino would be up and running at the St Regis by the end of 2021, but the date was missed.
