Premier attends blockchain and AI conference in Toronto
David Burt, the Premier, is in Canada this week to attend a blockchain and Artificial Intelligence conference.
According to a government spokeswoman, the Consensus 2025 event brings together policymakers, developers, investors and innovators.
Mr Burt is accompanied at the event in Toronto by Jason Hayward, the Minister of Economy and Labour.
Representatives from the Bermuda Monetary Authority, the Bermuda Business Development Agency and island-based law firms will also be attending.
The delegation’s mission to Consensus follows the successful Bermuda Digital Finance Forum held in Bermuda last week.
The spokeswoman added: “Premier will speak at the conference, conduct media engagement, join BDA-organised meetings with digital finance businesses and co-host Bermuda’s annual Consensus reception.
“During these events, Mr Burt and Mr Hayward will promote Bermuda’s leadership in digital finance on the global stage, reinforcing the island’s reputation as a well-regulated and forward-thinking jurisdiction.”
Mr Burt said: “Bermuda continues to be recognised globally as a jurisdiction that provides regulatory clarity for the digital finance industry and for building a smart, fit-for-purpose regulatory environment that allows for innovation with sound oversight.
“Coming off the momentum of the Bermuda Digital Finance Forum, Consensus provides another opportunity to strengthen partnerships, share Bermuda’s story, and attract international companies to Bermuda’s dynamic and growing digital finance sector.”
Mr Burt will return to the island on Friday.
