Nomination Day for an election to fill a vacant seat in the Corporation of Hamilton is set to take place next week.

A spokesman for the Parliamentary Registry said candidates for the upcoming Extraordinary Municipal Election for business ratepayers will need to put their names forward between 11am and 1pm on June 17 at St Paul Centennial Hall.

The election comes in the wake of the death of Lawrence “Larry” Scott, a Hamilton councillor, last month.

The spokesman said: “Nomination papers must be submitted in person during the designated hours.

“Business ratepayers wishing to stand for election are reminded that all nomination documents must be properly completed and submitted in line with the statutory requirements.”

Further information on nomination procedures, candidate eligibility and election timelines can be found at www.elections.gov.bm.
