MPs will hear from Jason Hayward, the Minister of Economy and Labour, on the Census of Population and Housing Order to be brought today to the House of Assembly.

The island’s last census in 2016 gave Bermuda’s population as 63,779.

Mr Hayward, who has repeatedly highlighted the need to grow the working population of the island, stated in February that the fresh count next year would enable a tally of workers compared with seniors and thus a clearer picture of how many more employed residents would be required.

The House will get an update from Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, on the Atlantic Child Advocacy Alliance.

The partnership was announced in September during a visit by Stephen Doughty, the British Minister of State for the Overseas Territories, who signed an agreement with David Burt, the Premier.

The letter of intent began a partnership with Britain to improve the litigation guardian service by pooling expertise from Bermuda and the southern ocean Overseas Territories of the Falkland Islands, St Helena, Ascension Island and Tristan da Cunha.

Also scheduled is a statement by Wayne Furbert, the Acting Minister of Finance, who will address MPs on land tax relief for surviving spouses.

Michael Weeks, the Minister of National Security, will update the House on the island’s series of antiviolence town hall meetings.

Three pieces of legislation could be debated. The island’s Clean Air Amendment Regulations 2025 are listed for a second reading.

Also listed is the Companies (Prohibition of Bearer Shares and Nominee Directors) Amendment Act 2025, which updates the Companies Act 1981 and the Limited Liability Company Act 2016.

One opposition Bill remains on the orders: the Absentee Voting Act 2025, which the One Bermuda Alliance was asked to withdraw this month but it declined.
