Burt congratulates Barbadian PM after third election win

David Burt congratulated Mia Mottley, the Prime Minister of Barbados, for leading the Barbabos Labour Party to its third consecutive election win.

The BLP secured all 30 seats in the House of Assembly for the third time after the vote on Wednesday.

Mr Burt, who also wrote to Ms Mottley after the win, said: “Bermuda values our ties with Barbados and Caricom, and looks forward to building on Ms Mottley’s work to deepen Africa-Caribbean trade and co-operation.”

Ms Mottley served as chair of the Caribbean Community from January to June 2025.

Mr Burt highlighted the leadership and Ms Mottley’s advocacy “on issues of regional integration, economic development and global co-operation, all of which align with Bermuda’s interests and shared regional priorities.”

A spokeswoman said: “The Government of Bermuda looks forward to continued collaboration with the Government of Barbados under Ms Mottley’s leadership.”
