RAA to hold training programme

RAA president Frank Nutter

The Reinsurance Association of America (RAA), in conjunction with the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR) and the Bermuda Insurance Institute (BII), has announced it will be hosting a training programme for re/insurance professionals at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess next month. The event entitled ReContracts: The Art of Designing Reinsurance Contracts and Programs will run from March 15 to 17.Frank Nutter, president of the RAA, said: “With so many RAA members domiciled in Bermuda, it makes sense to bring our education programmes here. Attendance at the programmes has steadily increased each year so we are obviously meeting a demand for continuing education.”Professionals involved in all aspects of reinsurance underwriting, contract writers, claims and accounting professionals, and attorneys specialising in reinsurance can attend the three-day programme, which looks at the influence of the market on contract terms and the impact of specific contract clauses on financial, claims and underwriting operations.Attendees will design reinsurance programmes and use case studies to learn how reinsurance contracts are drafted and how each contract forms a component of a company’s reinsurance programme. The programme also awards CLE, CPCU CPD and CPE credits.RenaissanceRe will again award scholarships to students selected by the Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies (BFIS) to attend the programme.Steve Weinstein, general counsel of RenaissanceRe, said: “We are pleased to once again support young Bermudians by sponsoring five BFIS students to attend the Bermuda ReContracts programme.“Beyond education, these students will have the opportunity to network with seasoned insurance and reinsurance professionals, and we hope both will encourage them to decide on a career in reinsurance.”For more information about the programme and to register visit the RAA’s ReContracts website at www.reinsurance.org
