Meanwhile Bermuda-based Alterra Capital Holdings Ltd expects to take a $20 million to $30 million hit from Hurricane Irene and other catastrophe events during the third quarter of 2011.The insurer announced yesterday that the initial loss estimates were pretax and net of reinsurance and reinstatement premiums and that its estimated losses from events in the first half of this year would continue to be within previously announced ranges.
