Flagstone estimates up to $18m Thai flood loss

Flagstone Re announced preliminary loss estimates of $13 million to $18 million from Thailand flooding and for the loss to negatively impact its fourth quarter earnings.The company also announced revised loss estimates for catastrophe events that occurred in the first half of 2011 to impact their fourth quarter results by $50 million to $55 million, net of reinstatement premiums and retrocession.Flagstone Re’s estimated loss for the Thai flooding event, which occurred over four months starting in July 2011, is based on an industry loss of between $15 billion and $18 billion.Additionally, Flagstone states that it expects minimal impact from the Costa Concordia shipwreck on its 2012 results from continuing operations.The company will announce fourth quarter earnings on February 21.
