Arch Re opens London facultative office

Arch Re Europe’s property facultative division has opened up a London office as it continues to build out its operations. The move comes after the Dublin-based Arch Reinsurance Europe opened an office in Zurich last year . The company says the establishment of the London branch builds upon its considerable success in the North American market since 2007."We are excited about our expansion in London — a great city with a great marketplace and great personalities which is alluring for our operation,” said Steve Franklin, CEO of Arch Re Fac US. “We are looking forward to offering something different in the facultative environment."The new London branch, which will write an array of excess-of-loss fac products, will work in concert with the Zurich office and be headed up by Greg Parker, managing director for Arch Re Europe’s facultative division. Mr Parker, who joined Arch in February 2012, has 15 years of industry experience in both London and the US. He’s worked for Gen Re, Hiscox and, most recently, Zurich. Mr Parker is joined by underwriting director, Oliver Woodward who has eight years of experience with Hiscox.Arch Reinsurance Europe is part of Arch Capital Group Ltd., a Bermuda-based insurance and reinsurance company with approximately $5.24 billion in capital. Dublin-domiciled Arch Re Europe established its property facultative arm five years ago.
