Alterra Re announces structural changes
Bermuda-based Alterra has announced a number of changes within its reinsurance division.The company says effective immediately, Greg Haft will be managing director — head of US property catastrophe underwriting, Peta White will be managing director — head of international property catastrophe underwriting, and Martin Vezina will be managing director — head of retrocessional property catastrophe underwriting.Mr Vezina will also underwrite for New Point V, one of a series of sidecar vehicles Alterra has established to create additional capacity for the property catastrophe collateralised reinsurance marketplace.In addition, Andrew ‘Barney’ Barnard becomes senior vice president — international property catastrophe underwriting.“Each of these underwriters has exhibited strong technical proficiency, leadership qualities, and a long term, profitable track record,” the company said in a statement.“We are fortunate to have such a deep bench of underwriting talent within our ranks and we will strive to provide the highest level of service available in the Bermuda market or elsewhere.”Mr Haft has worked as a US property catastrophe reinsurance underwriter for Alterra since 2005.Previously, he was assistant vice president and casualty actuary for Chubb Re Bermuda.Ms White has worked as an international property catastrophe reinsurance underwriter for Alterra since 2006.Previously, she was with Ace Tempest Re, where she most recently served as vice president, underwriter, international department.Mr Vezina has worked as an international retro & property catastrophe reinsurance underwriter at Alterra since 2005. From 2000 to 2005, he held the position of vice president — international property catastrophe and retro reinsurance inderwriter at Chubb Re.Andrew ‘Barney’ Barnard has worked as an international property catastrophe reinsurance underwriter for Alterra since 2009.From 2005 to 2009, Barney was with White Mountains Re, Dublin and Bermuda.
