The board of Women in Reinsurance has three new members.

WiRe was set up to encourage the development and promotion of women in the industry.

The three new board members are Tracey Gibbons, senior vice-president for specialty reinsurance at Allied World, Peta White, co-head of global reinsurance operations and senior managing director, head of North America property reinsurance at Merkel Global Reinsurance and Stephen Young, CEO, global reinsurance at Sompo International.

Mr Young is the first male director of WiRe, which was set up nine years ago.

Kathleen Reardon, chairman of WiRe and CEO of Hamilton Re, said: “As we continue to develop Wire, we look forward to the leadership and commitment of these three prominent executives.

“In order to continue advancing and promoting the development of professional women in the reinsurance industry, maintaining an inclusive approach ensures the best outcome.

“The collective thought leadership of the expanded board — which includes our first male director — will be instrumental to WiRe’s continued success.”

She added: “I would also like to thank Kathleen Faries, head of Bermuda, Tokio Millennium Re, for her tenure with Wire.

“Kathleen was one of the original supporters of Wire and a board member since 2011. She has been a steadfast advocate for women’s advancement in the workplace.”
