Hamilton Re names Thomas as new CEO
Hamilton Insurance Group today announced the appointment of Megan Thomas as chief executive officer of the company's reinsurance business, Hamilton Re.
Ms Thomas comes to Hamilton from Bermudian-based rival Axis Capital, where she was chief underwriting officer, reinsurance for the past two years.
She will report to group CEO Pina Albo and be based in Bermuda. Pending requisite immigration and regulatory approvals, her anticipated start date will be in October.
Ms Thomas succeeds Kathleen Reardon, whose departure was announced last month, when David Brown, the former CEO of Flagstone Re, took over as interim CEO.

Ms Thomas brings 20 years' insurance and reinsurance experience to her new position at Hamilton. Australian by birth and a lawyer by training, she began her career in the Australian insurance and financial services market.
She spent almost 13 years at AIG where she held increasingly senior roles, the last of which was chief underwriting officer, liability lines, before she joined Axis.
Ms Thomas is a graduate of Bond University, Gold Coast, Queensland, with a Bachelor of Law degree (Honours). She also holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Economics degree from the University of Queensland, the Graduate Diploma of Legal Studies from Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, and the Graduate Diploma of Business from the University of New England, Armidale, Australia. Ms Thomas has been admitted to the Bar in New York and in Queensland.
