Specialist hired to help grow US casualty business

SiriusPoint Ltd, the global specialty re/insurer headquartered in Bermuda, has appointed Phil Wooldridge as head of London US casualty.

The company said Mr Wooldridge has more than 25 years of experience in the US casualty markets, and working with the existing team, will focus on growing SiriusPoint’s US casualty treaty book.

Based in London, he will report to head of London and international casualty Nick Pascall.

Bobby Heerasing, SiriusPoint head of international strategic business development, said: “I am very pleased to welcome Phil to SiriusPoint and our London casualty team.

“Phil brings with him a wealth of experience and relationships which will position SiriusPoint well as we look to grow and develop our casualty reinsurance offering globally.”

Mr Wooldridge, who will start his new role on September 5, joins SiriusPoint from MS Amlin Syndicate, where he spent 12 years in various roles, most recently as chief underwriting officer, reinsurance.

He was previously at Argo Group as a US liability class underwriter and started his career as a liability underwriter at Faraday in London.
