Inver Re appoints Alun Thomas to head global property reinsurance

Alun Thomas: new global head of property reinsurance

Ardonagh Group’s reinsurance broking arm, Inver Re, has appointed Alun Thomas, formerly of MS Amlin, to the new role of global head of property reinsurance.

Mr Thomas will be responsible for developing a new property reinsurance proposition with a base in Bermuda.

Mr Thomas has been in Bermuda for 15 years, and has 26 years of experience in both broking and underwriting, most recently serving as head of property at reinsurer MS Amlin.

Mr Thomas will report to Chris Bonard, the chief executive, Bermuda, who said: “Our aim at Inver Re is to do things differently and breathe a breath of fresh air into reinsurance — and that’s exactly why we think we’re so lucky to have Alun join us.

“He knows the global property market inside out and brings an underwriting perspective that’s going to help us shape something new, relevant and dynamic for our end clients.”

Mr Thomas added: “What really attracted me to the role was the team of diverse and brilliant people already on board.

“I can’t wait to work with them — and I’m really excited at the opportunity to build something new with Inver Re, while being part of such an established presence in the marketplace through the Ardonagh Group.”

Since its launch in 2021, Inver Re has offices in London, Bermuda and the United States, and has a team of more than 100 reinsurance professionals.
