Mosaic promotes Thomas Duggan to lead North American claims
Mosaic Insurance has named environmental and casualty risk specialist and former district-attorney Thomas Duggan as the company’s claims head for North America.
Mr Duggan will oversee Mosaic’s claims teams for all lines of business throughout the Americas, including environmental liability, transactional liability, political violence, political risk and cyber, and directly handle environmental claims globally, from his New York office.
“I’ve known Tom for more than 20 years and have found him to be the consummate professional who operates with exceptional grace, communication and knowledge of the specialty sphere,” said Toby Smith, chief executive officer, Americas, at Mosaic.
“The calibre of his experience can lead to remarkable results, thanks to his ability to influence strategy and shape better outcomes for the benefit of all parties.”
Mr Duggan was one of 14 environmental specialists Mosaic hired last year across the US to build out the unit. He reports to Mosaic’s global head of claims, Natalie Graham. Her team has 11 experts based in New York and London.
Ms Graham said Mr Duggan’s experience perfectly aligned with Mosaic’s promise to provide technical expertise combined with broad understanding of their customer needs in times of crisis.
“I am looking forward to working with him as the team in the Americas grows in line with Mosaic’s overall strategy,” she said.
Mr Duggan has more than 25 years’ experience in law, underwriting, and claims. He began his legal career as an assistant district-attorney in the Brooklyn district-attorney’s office, New York.
