Christopher Harris to take over as QBE Capital chair
QBE Insurance Group Limited has appointed Christopher Harris chair of QBE Capital.
He will succeed Dave Duclos, the outgoing chair, who will retire in July after providing nine years of service.
A company statement said: “Dave’s tenure has seen the successful evolution of the role of the captive within QBE, through to its reclassification last year as a Class 4 insurer in Bermuda, authorised to write third-party business.
“His inclusive style of leadership, extensive industry experience and deep knowledge of QBE have facilitated a highly effective QBE Capital board.
“Christopher currently serves as CEO and board member for Monarch Point Re, a private specialty reinsurer.
“Previously, he spent more than 13 years at Montpelier Re in C-suite positions as chief actuary, chief risk officer and chief underwriting officer, before being appointed CEO.
“Christopher sits on the boards of Catalina Holdings, an Apollo Global Management portfolio company, and Oceanview Reinsurance, a Bayview Asset Management portfolio company.
“Additionally, he is a Board Leadership Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors.
“Previously, he sat on the boards of James River Group, Hiscox Insurance Company Bermuda, Hiscox Re, Montpelier Re and Blue Capital Reinsurance.”
