Compre hires Rachel Bardon to newly created CUO role
Compre, the Bermuda-domiciled international specialty reinsurance group, has appointed Rachel Bardon to the newly created role of chief underwriting officer.
Ms Bardon, who will also join Compre’s executive committee, will start on September 1 and be based in Bermuda, reporting to group CEO Will Bridger.
She will also join the board of Compre’s Bermuda-domiciled reinsurer, Pallas Reinsurance Company Ltd. Both roles are subject to regulatory approval.
Ms Bardon will be responsible for Compre’s business development activities across the group including new business origination, reinsurance underwriting and transaction execution as well as strategic market development.
With 25 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance markets, Ms Bardon will join from Hudson Structured Capital Management where she was most recently partner, chief investment officer of insurance credit and deputy chief investment officer of reinsurance for HSCM’s reinsurance activities.
She is a qualified actuary with experience ranging across underwriting, investing, portfolio management, pricing, reserving, fund and actuarial valuations, capital modelling, and risk management.
Mr Bridger said: “I am delighted to welcome Rachel to Compre. Her deep industry experience spans the spectrum of capital and liability solutions for cedants in our market, from prospective to retrospective underwriting.
“She will also bring a wider investment focus to the business. Her strong commercial background will strengthen Compre’s capability as we continue to seek further growth in our core North American market.”
