Abir celebrates market leaders

The Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers highlighted 13 insurance and reinsurance executives assuming new leadership positions in 2025 and 2026, during a reception held at O'Hara House on Bermudiana Road.

Abir’s membership is the core of a group of Bermuda insurers and reinsurers who operate in 150 countries providing leadership in specialised coverages.

Abir estimates that Bermuda reinsurers represent about 36 per cent of the global reinsurance market, based on property/casualty net premiums earned.

Mark Cloutier, Abir chair and Aspen executive group chair, said: “Abir is proud to celebrate our member companies’ world-class leadership. Bermuda’s strength as a global (insurance and) reinsurance hub has always been anchored in the depth and quality of its talent. These newly appointed and promoted executives exemplify the expertise and vision that set Bermuda apart. We remain committed to fostering the talent that will guide our market forward.”

Among the executive appointments and promotions, effective in 2025 and 2026, marked at the event:

• William Randolph, chief risk officer, Conduit Re

• Tim Duffin, group chief underwriting officer, Hamilton Insurance Group

• Susan Steinhoff, chief underwriting officer, Hamilton Re

• Russ Buckley, chief risk officer, Hamilton Insurance Group, and chief risk officer, Hamilton Re

• Raymond Karrenbauer, chief information officer, Hamilton Re

• Rhonda Hasell, appointed chief financial officer, Hannover Re

• Phil Enan, chief strategy and corporate development officer, SiriusPoint

• Andrew Pryde, group chief risk officer, SiriusPoint

• Martin Hudson, director, SiriusPoint

• Maria Tarhanidis, chief investment officer, SiriusPoint

Bermuda is an internationally recognised centre of global expertise on underwriting for catastrophe, climate, cyber, mortgage and credit risk transfer products, along with other specialty insurance and reinsurance.

Between 2016 and 2023, the Bermuda Market paid nearly $1 trillion in claims, helping narrow global protection gaps.
