IQUW taps underwriter to lead new product push
IQUW Bermuda is expanding its footprint on the island with plans to launch directors and officers, financial institutions and cyber insurance products, appointing Tristram Prior, a London-based underwriter, to lead the buildout.
Mr Prior will relocate to Bermuda, pending immigration approval, to become head of professional lines and cyber insurance.
He will report to James Mitchell, who became IQUW Bermuda’s chief underwriting officer in October and is guiding the development of the company’s property, direct and facultative platform. All new products remain subject to Bermuda Monetary Authority approval.
The move marks the latest stage in IQUW’s strategy to grow its Bermuda operation as demand rises for more sophisticated solutions in professional lines, cyber and property.
The company said the expansion aims to give brokers and clients better access to underwriting expertise and data-driven risk insights across international markets.
It follows IQUW Re Bermuda’s A- rating from AM Best in March and the reinsurer’s recent push into mortgage, credit and cyber business.
“We’re delighted that Tristram has agreed to join the IQUW Bermuda team to drive forward our underwriting strategy,” Mr Mitchell said. “His deep technical expertise and proven leadership make him the ideal choice to lead the introduction of a range of new lines of business here in Bermuda.”
Mr Prior said he looked forward to helping establish IQUW Bermuda as a hub for professional lines and cyber.
“We will continue to deliver our culture of data, insight and human expertise to support brokers with a seamless, efficient service proposition,” he said.
IQUW noted that the appointment is part of a broader effort to promote and retain high-potential talent, with several internal promotions to senior roles made this year.
