Hamilton Re is kicking off the new year with a host of leadership changes, including a promotion for Susan Steinhoff, who has been made chief underwriting officer.

Ms Steinhoff brings more than 25 years of insurance industry experience, having joined the firm in its early days in 2014.

In her new role, Ms Steinhoff is leading underwriting activities across Hamilton Re, reporting to chief executive Adrian Daws. She succeeds Tim Duffin, who became group chief underwriting officer on January 1.

A company spokesman said with Ms Steinhoff’s leadership, Hamilton would continue to strengthen its underwriting capabilities and deliver exceptional value to its clients and partners.

Mr Daws said Ms Steinhoff had been a key member of their executive team, leading the property reinsurance team with distinction.

“Her expertise and client centric approach have earned her respect across the industry,” he said.

“I look forward to working closely with her as she shapes the future of our underwriting function and leads our talented insurance and reinsurance underwriting teams.”

In connection with Mr Steinhoff’s promotion, Peter Riihiluoma will succeed Ms Steinhoff as senior vice-president, head of property reinsurance, and Sergio Lottimore will succeed Mr Riihiluoma as senior vice-president, head of speciality reinsurance.

Hamilton said that these promotions underscored their commitment to strong leadership and continuity across its underwriting teams.
