Axa XL Reinsurance has promoted Julian Longbottom to global head of marine and energy, reinsurance and Jamie Pedro to head of specialty, reinsurance, Bermuda, with both appointments effective January 1.

Mr Longbottom will lead the global marine and energy reinsurance business, with responsibility for setting and executing strategy across markets. He has spent more than a decade at Axa XL Reinsurance, bringing experience in portfolio growth, client solutions and strategic development, including expansion of the company’s Japanese business.

Mr Pedro has been appointed global product lead for whole account reinsurance risks and will work closely with Mr Longbottom in managing Bermudian-based marine and energy reinsurance exposures. He will also continue to support core clients within the reinsurance property portfolio. Mr Pedro has 15 years’ experience in Axa XL’s Bermuda property reinsurance division.

Bertrand Romagne, chief executive, reinsurance, international, said Mr Longbottom had played a central role in the business’s development. “Julian has demonstrated deep expertise in the marine and energy sector and has been a key contributor in driving growth and delivering innovative solutions for our clients for more than ten years,” he said.

Mark Twite, chief executive, reinsurance Bermuda, said Mr Pedro’s promotion reflected his consistent performance and technical strength.

“Jamie has consistently demonstrated strong analytical skills and a commitment to excellence, making significant contributions to the team’s success and reinforcing our market leadership,” he said.
