Hamilton Insurance Group, Ltd has appointed Michelle Li as chief financial officer of Hamilton Global Specialty, the company’s London-based underwriting platform.

The certified public accountant and certified internal auditor will work closely with Alex Baker, chief executive officer of Hamilton Global Specialty and report to Brian Deegan, group chief accounting officer, and will be a key member of the company’s global finance function.

Mr Baker said Ms Li brings exactly the blend of finance discipline, Lloyd’s market knowledge and collaborative leadership valued at Hamilton.

He said: “Her expertise will help us keep our strategic focus and momentum across our underwriting platform.”

Mr Deegan added: “Michelle’s strong record of financial leadership makes her an excellent addition to our global finance function. I look forward to working closely with her as she steps into this key leadership role within our global finance team.”

She joins Hamilton from RenaissanceRe, where she held a range of senior roles for over fourteen years, most recently serving as senior vice-president, head of finance Lloyd’s and RenaissanceRe of Europe. Earlier in her career, she worked with PwC for over five years in Bermuda and Canada.
